THE LARGE ROCK
by Barbara Janelle M.A.
Species Link, Issue 44 Autumn, 2001
I was hiking along the Maine coast in August and paused in the woods next to a large rock. The rock was very insistent, demanding that I stay and listen instead of catching up with my companions.
Push on my flat, wide plane.
There is a hidden world within.
(the surface facing me was quite smooth and so I pushed)
Push..push harder!
Ah, you cannot reach
my inner world
through physical force.
Indeed, if you try,
one or both of us
“lose.”
So find a way to access
my deep world.
Become one with me.
Let your mind
go softly into me
Widening..become me.
Now touch my knowing, my being:
the door to wholeness.
All time is here
time becomes solid in your world.
